WORK

I spend my days taking product photos, editing, writing copy and doing marketing layout.  I'm going to open that wine and give the new wine glass a product test once the workday is over. All in the name of research, of course.

WET

Wet baby.

HEALTH

That's the glazed over look of a birthday boy who normally does not eat sweet things and has consumed far too many at his celebration.  His mom is pretty zealous about healthy eating so I had to laugh when I saw him double fisting a couple of mini cakes with another small cake half eaten in front of him.

AGED

He's aged 3 years since some of you first met him.  Newborn

FUN

Youngest daughter has a little colorful fun.

SEASHORE

The farm lake is probably as close to the seashore as this midwest boy will be getting this summer. An unusually warm spring had us at water's edge earlier than usual this year.

RELAXATION

The Righteous Room.  One of  downtown's newest locales, popular for a little post-work day relaxation.

ELABORATE

The details of this doorway caught my eye. Downtown Cincinnati.

CITY LIFE

City bus stop. Appears as if the men are on an overpass with the city below and in the background.  Actually it's a combination of advertising and reflections on the dark windows of the building behind them.

NIGHT

Rozzi's Famous Fireworks holds a Shooters School one day each year. When night comes the neighbors are treated to an unannounced fireworks show. This year it coincided with the Super Moon.


Couldn't get the light post out of my way unfortunately.

FLOWER

She's the only thing I've had a chance to photograph outside of work for several months!  And I love the big pink flower on her headband.

FACES

Early morning "conversation" with the grandgirl. She makes a lot of funny faces.

New Grandgirl cradled in her daddy's hands.

UNFORGETTABLE

It's been an unforgettable 10 days or so for Indianapolis. Time for the influx of limos, the $495 game day parking, the road closures and the celebrities to say goodbye. I think most people will say 'It's been a fun ride, but welcome home, normal."

THE BLUES

Massachusetts Avenue, Indianapolis.  Locally known as "Mass Ave" where the best blues are found at The Chatterbox with the landscape lighting running a close second.

With the Patriots leading right now in the second half of the Super Bowl, local Giants fans (It's that Peyton/Eli Manning connection. If the local boy isn't playing, it just seems right to cheer for his brother.) are singing the blues too.

**edit** And in the end, Patriot fans covered the blues although it was a heckova game all the way around.

LANDMARK

The IPL building in downtown Indianapolis is something of a landmark, known for the displays it creates with window lighting. The Soldiers and Sailors Monument at the foreground right in photo is possibly the most recognizable landmark in downtown Indy although I would bet a lot of people only know it as "The Circle" rather than by the name of the monument on the circle.

I tightened up the crop on the photo after the fact. The gradient appearance of the lights is a natural resulting glow caused by the windows being recessed in the building front.

SYMBOLS

Super Bowl symbols are apparent everywhere this week and none more so than the large numerals constructed in the heart of the Circle City.

FOOD

The Indy food trucks are out in force for the Super Bowl visitors. On Saturday night, one quarter of the downtown circle was lined with food trucks and an amazing blend of wonderfully enticing smells. Couple that with the normal downtown restaurant smells and dozens of food service/caterers for the various game week events and downtown smells delicious.

PLAYGROUND

Downtown Indianapolis has become an NFL lovers playground this week. I'm not a football fanatic but it's an amazing experience. If you ever get the chance to dive into the presence of a hometown Super Bowl, do it.

JUNK

You can tell how the work week went by the amount of junk food containers in the garbage.  Last week was rough.

And don't worry, the aluminum pan was recycled before the bag went to the dumpster.

ARRANGED

A florists's window arranged to merge from a Christmas theme to simply winter.

ICONIC

This is a car lot in Cincinnati, OH. The Giant Indian has been there since the 1950s or '60s. The place used to be called Cherokee Motors, and the catch line on their TV commercials was "Cherokee Motors.........where Paddock meets Vine at the big Indian sign."

SIGNS

The car wash signs intimidate me.  I'm always wondering what happens if I stop when I'm supposed to drive forward or hit the button for the sun roof when the clear coat is being applied or back up when the spot free rinse is beginning...

CLEANLINESS

With no snow, I'm not sure how everything has gotten so grime covered but the car wash lines were deep as everyone embraced cleanliness.

FLUFFY!

This time of year I would rather the fluffy white stuff on my lawn be snow than dandelions but nature does as She sees fit.

PERSPECTIVE

Sometimes it's all in your perspective. The official story of the office Gumby is that he was an award for contorting to meet any ridiculous demand "being flexible in the workplace."  The unofficial story is Gumby may keep a smile on his face but that waving left hand is not saying "you're number one." 

TRANSPORTATION

I transport my bacon home in a reusable canvas bag but to each his own...

UNEXPECTED

I did not expect to come face to face with a swan during an early morning walk at an urban retention pond in the midst of parking lots and tall office buildings.
